Mistress of the Empire (The Empire Trilogy Book 3) by Raymond E Feist and Janny Wurts

So Mara sets out to find a way to oppose the will of the seemingly all-powerful Assembly and forever change Tsurani society.

I am not to fond of the early parts of this book with the assassination attempts and the war against the Hamoi but the ending when she is facing down the Assembly in the imperial palace is among my favourite parts from any of the books I have read.
