Freedom's Gate (The Dead Rivers Trilogy Book 1) by Naomi Kritzer

Lauria is half Greek/Danibeki and is the favourite aide of Kyros a powerful Greek military officer. One day she is asked to go to another officer's household disguised as a slave and then escape to infiltrate the Alashi a bandit tribe that is supposed to be planning a major offensive. But after being raped by the Greek officer Lauria starts to doubt her loyalties as she gets to know the Alashi warrior sisterhood.

I was interested in the story of this book but would not say I liked it. I was on the side of the Greeks and Lauria changing sides irritated me. I will be buying the rest of the series partly because of my desire to complete series and partly because I would like to know how the series ends.
