The Earthsea Quartet The Tombs of Atuan (Book 2) By Ursula K. Le Guin

Tenar was taken from her family at 5 years old and take to the Temple of the nameless ones where she is told she is Arha First priestess of the nameless ones reborn. Later after she is come into her rights and privileges of the First Priestess she finds a sorcerer defiling the Undertomb (Sacred to the Nameless Ones). She captures him but does not kill him as she is supposed to but instead keeps him alive and questions him about the outside world. She gets in trouble when Kossil High priestess of the Godking finds out that she has not killed him. In fear of her life Tenar helps the sorcerer find the ring of Erreth-Akbe and flees from the Temple with him.

I found the beginning of this book when Tenar I being trained and living her life at the temple a bit tedious. But the story picked up when Sparrowhawk arrived. It is not one of my favourite books but I think if I read the Earthsea quartet again I would not upset to have to read it again.
